Peter
Karmanos Jr., Compuware Corp. chairman and CEO,
is venturing into the restaurant industry by becoming the
franchisee of the co-branded restaurant
Papa Romano's
and
Mr. Pita, the first such restaurant in Detroit.
It's a return to restaurant roots for Karmanos, whose
parents use to run a coney island.
His new 1,800-square-foot co-branded restaurant is in the
Compuware building at One Campus Martius and is Detroit's
fourth Papa Romano's and fifth Mr. Pita.
The restaurant will offer dine-in and carryout as well as a
bicycle delivery service for nearby orders. It will also
offer a regular delivery service for orders farther away.
Mr. Pita and Papa Romano's are owned by Askar Brands,
which generated $40.4 million in 2007.
